The installed bung must have a defined lip or ridge beneath the opening because the lock secures by gripping underneath it. Fit is determined by the complete bung installed on the drum opening, not the opening alone. Proper fit depends on three critical bung measurements: up to 3-3/8” in diameter, 5/8” in exposed height, and 2-3/4” of gripping-lip clearance. Because the original seal plug stays installed, the seal is never broken, and no part of the drum lock enters the drum or contacts its contents. This creates a rigid point of control without exposing workers to the stored material or introducing an unnecessary contamination risk.

A secure lockout starts with an exact fit. This drum lock encloses installed bungs measuring up to 3-3/8” in diameter and 5/8” in exposed height, with 2-3/4” of gripping-lip clearance. Measure all three dimensions while the bung is installed before purchasing. The installed bung must have a lip or ridge below its opening for the lock to grip; without one, the device will not fit as intended. Once fitted, the two-piece body clamps over the existing bung while the seal plug remains intact.

The seal is never broken, no part of the device enters the drum, and stored chemicals, waste, liquids, semi-liquids, or powders remain separated from the lockout device. Safety teams can restrict access without opening the container, disturbing the closure, or creating an unnecessary contamination risk.

Complete drum lockout in 3 direct steps: Position the two halves around the installed drum bung, slide the included 1-3/4” lock bar through the top, and secure the device with one LOTO padlock or compatible hasp with up to a 1/4” diameter shackle. This rapid-deploy installation helps crews establish a rigid point of control without removing the drum bung or using specialized tools. Padlock compatibility supports single-worker lockout, while hasp compatibility gives facilities greater flexibility when multiple authorized employees must control access. Padlocks and hasps are sold separately.
